    Horizontal Agitators for Silos:

Walker Engineered Products has developed a unique horizontal agitator that is USDA accepted for mechanical cleaning for use in 3-A dairy silos & storage vessels. During CIP, the one-piece stainless steel body and agitator shaft assembly is connected to the CIP supply line. This forces CIP solution through the assembly and, via a specially contoured nose, directs pressurized flow to effectively clean the impeller blades. The unique one-piece construction eliminates internal threads. The self-lubricated internal plastic bushing is grooved for effective flow, minimal maintenance and cleanability. This provides a self-lubricated bearing surface between the shaft and body housing. The sanitary internal construction is free from internal springs, unsanitary crevices, and threads for more effective CIP flow-through cleaning. The simplicity of the design ensures that all basic components can be removed in just a few minutes to facilitate full inspection of all internal parts.

    DESIGN FEATURES

USDA Accepted – For use in 3-A storage tanks.
Proven Long-Life Seal – Carbon face seal is bonded to a rubber flex/compression body for effective sealing.
Wave Spring – Fully automates the cleaning process by eliminating the need to manually loosen and retighten the retaining nut during the CIP cycle.
One-Piece Stainless Steel Body – Special contoured nose directs pressurized flow to effectively clean the impeller blades. One-piece construction eliminates internal threads.
Self-Lubricated Internal Plastic Bushing – Grooved for effective flow and cleanability. Provides a self-lubricated bearing surface between the shaft and body housing.
Sanitary Internal Construction – Free from internal springs, unsanitary crevices, and threads for more effective CIP flow-through cleaning.
Simple Disassembly for Periodic Inspection – Remove all basic components in just a few minutes! This permits full inspection of all internal parts.

    Vertical Agitators for Silos

For applications requiring vertical agitation Walker Engineered Products offers

    OPTION ONE - OFFSET AGITATOR

The "H" mount offset design eliminates the need for baffling simplifying the vessel design for CIP. A single impeller design is offered as standard, however multiple impellers may be required, depending upon vessel size and product characteristics.  Typical applications include cream, egg and viscous products.

The agitator speed is generally between 20 & 50 rpm – depending on product application.  As a standard, the sweep style is used.  The style is designed to uplift the product and ideal for maintaining circulation and uniformity of product within the tank and to enhance heat transfer surface performance.  Typically the agitator is supported by a bottom guide bearing.

For certain applications a turbine style may be selected.  The turbine is designed to push product down and away to the circumference of the vessel.  This design is ideal for products containing particulate material

OPTION TWO - GATE STYLE AGITATOR APPLICATION

The center bridge mount sweep style blade design with integral baffles is a low speed agitator, 12 – 15 rpm, and is designed to keep the product in motion and ensure good heat transfer without imparting shear on the product.  The agitator will be supported by a bottom guide bearing. Typical applications include whey products and other viscous products.
